MP continues to support residents in struggle for Windsor
Fire Service
19th February 2009
Windsor MP
Adam Afriyie has vowed to continue supporting local
residents and Councillors in their fight to keep Windsor
Fire Station open 24 hours. This is despite the recent High
Court decision that the Fire Authority’s original
consultation was not flawed.
Mr Afriyie has
been active on the issue for several years campaigning
alongside local residents and
tabling an Early Day Motion in Parliament last year, to
raise awareness of the proposed closure.
On hearing the
disappointing news, Mr Afriyie said:
‘We’re all
concerned about the impact the closure will have on the
safety of local residents and the protection of local
tourist attractions in Windsor.
I have
campaigned
alongside local councillors and residents
to stop the overnight closure and the Council have done
everything they can by taking the issue to court.
The court’s
decision is certainly disappointing, but I will continue to
support residents in their fight to save Windsor Fire
Station.’
