Heartless Behaviour!

"I read last week’s revelations of the escalating debt under the Liberal run council, with disbelief.

In just over a year the ‘caring’ Liberals are causing pain for all of us. Their council tax hurts the poorest and oldest the most, because it is neither means tested nor income related.

Remember, every extra £1m spent forces us to pay an extra £18 council tax!

Tempted to feel sorry for the LibDem candidate - whose hopes for becoming MP are now in doubt - I was reminded that, as a leading councillor, he is the man behind the council tax rises.

They talked of 1.5% for votes, but they have imposed a massive 8.9% council tax rise.

They talked of solving parking problems, but they have clobbered us with a 300% rise in residents parking charges.

And now we discover that they are saddling us with debts of £7m (whilst refurbishing their offices for £7m).

Their heartlessness towards their own kind natured voters amazes me.

If we care about the elderly and less well off we must surely spend more wisely and borrow less to keep the taxes down.

I am resolutely determined to continue the fight for lower taxes for the less well off."
