We need Strong
Government
15-Sep-06, Windsor Express
Article.
Labour’s long-term leadership and party divisions
appear to have finally erupted into the public domain
over the last week. The feud between Gordon Brown and
Tony Blair has escalated into an almighty row with
ministerial resignations and allegations and
counter-allegations of plotting.
Whilst sometimes shocking and sometimes entertaining, the
infighting is most certainly unsettling. Not only for the
disheartened Labour supporters, but it also raises questions
about where the minds of Government ministers are focussed.
With the ever present threat from terror at home, our
troops thinly spread abroad and problems with virtually
every domestic service, it cannot be right that Labour
ministers are at each others throats rather than dealing
with the important matters for which they were elected.
Whilst ministers argue, families continue to harassed and
pressurized by incompetent erroneous tax credits payments,
parents are unable to get their children into good local
schools, and the NHS deficits threaten budget cuts to vital
health services.
Undignified and bitter public squabbling is not
acceptable for any Government and signifies their downfall -
as the Conservative Government learnt in 1997. The people of
Britain deserve better than a government populated by
ministers more concerned with their careers than the good
governance of their country. It is time for a change, we
need a strong and united Government. |

I
believe...
People are happier when making their own decisions.
Business is the engine of the economy that generates our
jobs, incomes and taxes.
Government should not interfere in our lives beyond
protecting and defending us.
