It is truly an honour to represent the Windsor constituency in Parliament and this is particularly brought home to me at this time of year. 

 

The Remembrance Sunday civic service in central Windsor is one of the many held across the constituency which help us to remember those people who have been killed and injured in conflicts through the centuries.    I was pleased to stand alongside the Mayor, local Councillors and share the moment with local groups and organisations dedicated to recognising and supporting those in our armed services and their families.

 

Combermere Barracks and the Victoria Barracks place the military at the heart of the constituency.  And, as a military constituency, it gives me the opportunity to have regular contact with the men and women in our armed forces both in Windsor and when they visit for tours of Westminster.  Meeting and speaking with the serving personnel and veterans always reminds me of their dedication and sacrifice.  And I am determined that we never forget the contribution they make to our freedom.

 

Like so many others who have had former family generations serve in the armed forces,  Remembrance Sunday is also an important date in the family diary when we can come together to commemorate and reflect on past conflicts.

 

Whilst it is of course a time of remembrance, it is also a time to think and give thanks to those men and women currently serving abroad.  My colleagues and I will continue to do what we can to give our committed and talented Armed Forces the support they need to carry out their duty.  It is our duty to do so.
