Let’s face it: parking can be a real nightmare at the best of times!
The hundreds of letters in my postbag over the last decade also confirm that parking spaces, regulations and fines are a significant concern for many local residents.
I am constantly impressed and delighted with the way the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead engages with local residents about changes and schemes in their local area. So it is not surprising that they have done it once again.
The Council is now asking all car owners and users for their views on parking in the Royal Borough. A consultation has been launched so that they can plan for future parking needs across the borough.
I know that the Council is keen to protect the interests of local residents parking whilst making the town centre more accessible and better managed for visitors. It hopes to deliver more customers and higher levels of employment through a safer, fairer and more efficient transport system.
The consultation runs until Friday 19th August and I would urge anyone with concerns or views to take part. The questionnaire is available at www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/parking_consultations.htm and can be completed online or printed and returned to Parking Consultation, Freepost SL1453, Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead.
