Well, what a year 2011 turned out to be. Last year was at times disconcerting as the Coalition Government worked hard get Britain back on its feet. Tough decisions needed to be made to keep our country on track for the future and there is still some way to go to secure a long-term recovery in 2012.
This is an uncertain time with issues such as Britain’s position in Europe and radical reforms of the banking system proving major worries for many of us. Everyone is affected by the decisions being made and my postbag has been full over the past twelve months with residents trying to get guidance and information or simply bringing their own personal situation to my attention.
But despite the uncertainty, I am still constantly overwhelmed by people’s ability to help others and give their time and energy to local projects aimed at the more vulnerable in society. Wherever I am in the constituency, I meet with local residents and business men and women who are putting aside their own difficulties and dedicating their time to helping those less fortunate.
I’m proud to represent such an active constituency and it is this sense of togetherness that we must all remember as we enter 2012.
You have my very best wishes for a prosperous and successful 2012.
